A few weeks ago, Killer and I had the honour of performing the wedding service for young friends, assisted with the official bits by the bride's father, a pastor. It was such an incredible experience to be intimately involved in such a sacred moment. To chat with the nervous groom immediately before the service, to see the bride's eye's moisten from two feet away, to read the vows for her to repeat. Unexpected and unrivalled.
To our absolute astonishment, another young couple who we are very dear to us, have asked if we would do the same for them! Ummmmm, YES!!
Both these girls worked for us as nannies when the children were much younger and have become like family. I am actually amazed that they would even want to be in our lives after seeing my spectacular 5.00pm meltowns and knowing me in such a real way (which reminds me of this thought-provoking post). in fact, their continuing friendship is as much a surprise and honour as being invited to conduct their weddings.
So, in about three weeks, we will standing before them, with another friend who is a pastor, asking them to if they 'do'. We met tonight to iron out some of the details and I have to say, there's a new breed of bride, people. These girls have both been super organised without being control freaks. They have stayed focused on the main game: that all the details are secondary to the actual point of the day.
