It was so startling, that when Sparkly was describing our Saturday to a friend she added, "And Mummy actually played with us!" I'm going to celebrate the fact that I did, rather than bemoan the fact that it doesn't happen very often. And, as always, I'm delighted at how creative and entertaining the little vonerables are when making up plot and dialogue for their toys.
Have you ever hidden around the corner to listen to your little ones play? I must record some of it for us all to enjoy when they're grown. It's precious to hear them acting out what they think it means to be an adult or to have a particular career. Sometimes I'm not so keen on what comes out of their mouths when they're playing 'Mummy'. It's often, "Calm the heck down" or "Get into bed NOW!". Yikes.
And according to Twirly, I have no idea how often I say, "bloody". I was pretty sure I didn't ever say it in front of them but maybe what I thought was subvocalising was more like a stage whisper. Thanks for the heads up, Twirly.
