Have you ever turned up to a specialist's appointment without the referral? Left a gift voucher at home? Wanted somewhere to store the outline of your Mum's foot in case you find the perfect loafer on sale in her size? Needed to protect your theatre tickets from the little bits of chocolate that mysteriously appear in every woman's handbag then melt only onto the most important pieces of paper? Of course you have! My clever, clever sister has the perfect solution for us all:
I call it a Fabric Document Storage Device for Handbags, or Sylvie, for short. Let me know if you want instructions for your very own FDSDH. Not only is it keeping my papers in order and safe from biscuit crumbs, it looks terribly cute peeking out of my bag. I'm hoping people will just assume I made it myself.

Listen and soar
Taste Autumn
Feel words nourishing sick little bodies
Persevere
Announce your latest ailment while Mummy is on the phone
Other verbs getting a good workout here are: drive, wait, consult, fill script, be grateful, calm down, listen, really listen, soothe, launder, cuddle.
I'm struggling with energy for some reason. Bear with me and my monosyllabic posts. I feel so glad to be in my life but so incapable of being efficient. Imagine a circus trick where an acrobat leaps through fiery hoops. I have those hoops all over the place, but at some point I thought, "Stuff it", got down off the little platform and just walked around them. It's unspectacular and disappointing, but we're getting by. I'm even cooking dinner before dinner time. Uh-huh.
Good luck with your own hoops. I'm always open to other people's stories of hoop defiance, hoop fatigue and hoopla.

Did you know that little ones are 78 times less likely to bicker at the bottom of a gorge than in the midst of a fairground? That on the walk down into the gorge they might even hold hands and help one another over difficult rocks? That a four year old can walk more than 2 kilometres, including some impressive rock climbing, with little help? The same four year old who can't even walk from the car into the classroom without needing to be carried?!
