Do you ever walk through your house noticing only the unfinished? The uncrafted craft, unfiled filing, unstacked dishes, unfolded folding, unlaundered laundry...? We could go on, right?! I have dropped many small balls today, including forgetting to put the milk for the coffee maker back in the 'fridge. Pffft. Not gonna cry over unrefrigerated milk.
But I would have once. Well, maybe no tears but I certainly would have momentarily berated myself. These days I'm more inclined to keep the self berating in check. I had an imaginary victory dance just now when I refrained from giving myself a lecture and simply thought, "Man, I must've been flat out this morning not to notice that".
Please join me in practicing NOT noticing the unfinished everywhere you look, unless, of course, you're looking for the next task. Retrain your eyes. Maybe you can skim over the pile of washing to see the clouds outside the laundry window? And I implore you, if the shoe fits, to consider NOT speaking harshly to yourself about the inevitable loose ends of life. Don't you agree, the only road without loose ends is the one with a paucity of connections, commitments and pleasure?
I'm off to wash out the milk jug. But that's okay. This morning I was busy getting five people ready to head out for the day and sometimes the milk jug doesn't make it back into the 'fridge.
